Smoke WeedThere is quite a lot of talk about the benefits of marijuana and how good it is to be able to use it for medicinal purposes, however, the simple truth is that marijuana is actually bad for you and should be avoided at all costs. Advocates for including weed as a drug are quick to point out the reasons why we should use it to help us deal with a variety of medical issues, here are a few reasons why we should stop using marijuana altogether.

Nature of the Beast

Advocates suggest that weed is better for you than alcohol or any other drug for that matter, even cigarettes. What these advocates fail to impress upon us is that weed is still an addictive drug, just like all the rest and the body will eventually begin to crave it. What that does is to place us on a fast track to drug addiction and the possibility of increasing our usage or turning to something a little stronger.

The Things We Lose

It is great to say that weed can help with the pain, but opioids will accomplish the same thing and they are not being legalized. There are several consequences of smoking weed that the advocates fail to tell us, such as how it can negatively affect our immune system and our ability to breathe. As with most drugs, weed can affect the way we perceive the things around us, our ability to remember things and solve problems.

The Best Way To Quit

Deciding to stop smoking weed is not a decision that someone can make for you, it has to come from your beliefs. If you choose to quit, there are a few methods that have worked for others.

The first thing you need to do is to ensure that you are maintaining a healthy diet to help you compensate for your urges.

An addiction is a craving that needs to be fed, one way to satisfy a craving is to provide it with an alternative, develop a hobby.

Smokers who try to quit have a tendency to put on weight because they turn to snacking. Rather than going down that route, create a goal to increase your water. This will provide you with a healthy choice and help you flush your system at the same time.

An environment that is full of people who smoke weed is not conducive to people who want to quit, avoid such places.

Engage the support of your family and friends.

Break the Marijuana HabitIf you’re someone who believes your pot use is starting to take over your life and you’re seriously considering quitting, there are steps that you can take that may make the transition easier and help reduce the chance that you’ll give into cravings while you’re trying so desperately to quit.

1. If you feel a craving about to hit, you might want to say “Just 10 more minutes” to when you’ll satisfy your craving and then do something to distract yourself. You can repeat this step as often as necessary.

2. Take caution to avoid known triggers that might set you off. You should avoid situations that you know you’ll want to start using again.

3. You should also avoid hanging around people who smoke, they may influence you to do the same and hinder your goal of quitting.

4. Get a new hobby. While you’re trying to quit, it’s important to keep yourself distracted with someone you enjoy doing so you’re not focused on the craving; focusing on the craving may only result into giving into it.

5. You shouldn’t expect your friends, the one who do smoke, to offer any support towards your goal of quitting. It may even benefit you to get some new friends.

6. It might be benefiting to take up a relaxing technique or start meditating. Especially, when a craving hits.

7. Throw out all your pot and any smoking paraphernalia that you may have. If you have any unsmoked pot, don’t feel you have to smoke it and then start your plan to quit after you finish it; just get rid of it all now and be done with it.

8. If you have a dealer, break all contact and make sure they stop contacting you. If you have no way of contacting them, you won’t be able to give in and place an order.

9. You should prepare for the withdrawal you’re going to experience, especially if you’ve decided to quite cold turkey. Which should level off within two weeks. You can get through it.

10. Write down all the reasons why you want to quit smoking and pull it out every time you need a reminder when it gets hard.

Decide to quit may be the easy step in kicking the habit for good, but it’s not impossible. As long as you stick with it and know that you can do it, then you’ll soon be living the smoke-free lifestyle that you set a goal to.

Here is given an example indicating how as a typical long-term drug user takes to quit smoking weed.

5 weeks before stopping, I took only one hit per day. Gradually, I slowed down to one hit every-other-day. That lasted for 3 weeks. During the following 10 days, I quit smoking weed completely. My appetite was not affected, but there were many other side effects, which I had to cope with for a period of time.
